
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE STATED MEETING OF THE PRESBYTERY OF CAYUGA-SYRACUSE

The Collamer United Church hosted the stated meeting of Presbytery. Moderator Tracie Martin called the meeting to order with prayer. The Rev. Logan Potts welcomed presbyters to the church and shared a summary of the history of the former Presbyterian and Methodist churches before and since their union in 1975.
The Presbytery:

Said farewell to the Rev. Russell Duncan, who is leaving his position as pastor at the Morrisville Community Church and chair of the Presbytery's Committee on Ministry to take a pastorate in Cape May, New Jersey;
s
Said farewell to the Rev. Robert Rochelle, who is leaving his position as interim pastor at First Presbyterian Church United in Syracuse to become interim pastor in Seneca Falls, New York;
s
Dismissed the Rev. Douglas Eddy, former pastor of the First United Church of East Syracuse, who has taken a pastorate in North Carolina;
s
Approved plans for the installation of the Rev. Kazy Hinds as associate pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, December 23;
s
Elected Elder Dan DeBrucker of Park Central Presbyterian Church in Syracuse as Presbytery moderator for 2008 and the Rev. Scott Cupp, pastor at Howlett Hill Presbyterian Church as vice moderator, and re-elected the Rev. Earl Arnold, supply pastor at Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, as stated clerk;

Welcomed the Rev. Tricia Dykers Koenig, national organizer of the Covenant Network, who had led a pre-presbytery workshop on "A Season of Discernment", sponsored by the Inclusive Church M&M Team;

Approved $5,000 in funding for the Reading Education at Church and Home (REACH) M&M Team and $900 for the Inclusive Church M&M Team;

Heard that scholarship funds had been approved for educators Wendy Vanderstouw of the First Presbyterian Church of Weedsport, Karen Wolff of Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church of Dewitt and Linda Russell of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Auburn as they attend the national conference of the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators;

Heard that a grant of $8,000 from Presbytery's Peacemaking Offering Funds had been approved for the Sudan clinic sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles;

Heard that a purchase offer has been accepted for the building of the former Clay Presbyterian Church;
s
Dismissed the Administrative Commission that has worked with the former Calvary Presbyterian Church in Auburn and heard that the Committee on Ministry has created a task force to work with members of that congregation;
s
Approved the Presbytery's budget for 2008;
s
Renewed the Covenant between the Presbytery and Westminster Manor, the Presbytery's adult residence in Auburn;
s
Received reports from the Coordinating Council and the Committee on Ministry concerning their conversations with the First Presbyterian Church of Liverpool concerning Presbytery's actions at aits September meeting, and took additional action;
s
Worshipped under the leadership of the Revs. Robert Rochelle and Russell Duncan.
