Mission Action Plan (MAP)
Capital Region Theological Center
"Enhancing the ministerial gifts of laity and clergy for the benefit of individuals, congregations, communions, and the wider Body of Christ."
The Capital Region Theological Center (CRTC) is a joint effort and ecumenical mission in theological education among the Formula of Agreement denominations in Upstate New York. This includes: Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Reformed Church in America and the United Church of Christ, none of which have a seminary within a three-hour drive of the Capital Region.
We provide a means to offer pastors and laity the opportunity to strengthen and enhance their spiritual life, continue learning, discover new resources and visions for ministry, develop technological skills to assist in ministry, and to establish and/or maintain networks of colleagues which provide an invaluable resource to pastoral ministers. We do this through planning, organizing and facilitating educational courses of varying topics, styles and formats. We contract with highly qualified instructors, basing our courses on local needs and interests, ensuring a relevant and invigorating experience. Since Fall 2001, CRTC has offered theological courses and events for both laity and clergy with over 1000 occurrences of participation (some more than once), drawing from 18 denominations.
