About us
The Presbytery of Cayuga-Syracuse is a faith community of over 6,100 Christians in forty- two congregations in Central New York State. We are part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a historic Protestant denomination, and have been a vital part of this region for more than 200 years. Our congregations are engaged in a wide variety of Christian mission and ministry in the communities in which they are located.
The Presbytery of Cayuga-Syracuse is:
- An association of Presbyterian congregations who share in mission and ministry projects and programs;
- A geographic region that encompasses four counties in upstate New York (Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego);
- The regional governing body that supports and equips congregations, ministers, and lay leaders;
- One of four governing bodies in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The other governing bodies are the Session (local congregation), the Synod (northeast U.S.), and the General Assembly (national church);
- A meeting/gathering of ministers and elder representatives. The presbytery business meetings occur five times a year and there are other gatherings for worship and enrichment.
May God bless you and may you enjoy your stay!
